Cleo's new Service Dog Vest

CLEO's New Service Dog Vest

Yes it was time, the old vest got so much use we needed to upgrade his uniform.

What do you think?  Very visible, and comfortable for him.  Cleo does spend a lot of time out and about and on long flights.  I do want him to be comfortable.

This is a link to his new vest:

Summer 2010

We had a pretty quiet summer. I cant beleive its almost over. We were able to take a few short trips and several day trips. Cleo loves playing frisbee so we hit the beach a few times.

We are planning a handful of trips over the fall. I will post photos, links and tips on traveling with a small service animal.

Welcome to my Small Service Dog blog!

My service dogs name is Cleo.

Cleo is a Maltese/Yorkshire Terrier mixed breed and weighs 11 pounds.

I have decided to start this blog to open dialogue about small service dogs and share my adventures traveling near and far with Cleo.

What picture comes to mind when you hear the words "Service Dog"?For most they think of Labradors, German Shepherds and Golden Retrievers.

But that is not the case . No specific breed or dog size is required for any type of service dog.It could be a Chihuahua to a Great Dane. The size of your service dog depends on your needs and what he is qualified to do for you.

All service dogs play an important role in their handlers life. A service dog helps their owner feel at ease at home and in public. Their dog is a companion that in many cases can save their life, no matter the dogs size.

I will be sharing my daily adventures with Cleo and encourage you to share your thoughts, ideas, challenges and stories of being the handler of a small sized Service Dog.
